As an old adage observes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. Which is why the Yale Visitor Center represented a critical design assignment. Housed in a restored 1709 house, the Center must swiftly introduce the spirit of Yale, present clear information to 50,000 visitors annually, and yet not impinge on the historic structure. Spagnola and Associates met the task by creating an exhibition chronicling 300 years of Yale history in unique freestanding “rooms within rooms.”
